Insults

Is the right saying vile things about the left as the left is saying about the right? Yes, but they don't equal what the left is saying about the right (Trump). Did these words contribute to the shooting at Trump? Yes, the left says Trump is Hitler and a Hitler (Trump) has to be killed. This is dangerous nonsense and it should stop, on both sides. Our history is full of political killings, but hopefully we have evolved from that. I guess not. Neither side is going to stop, so it will be no surprise that someone will be killed. It seems Trump is the target. Why should it be this way? Because of the American personality and chacter as a violent people. Trump knows how to get peoples goat (which he does on purpose) so he can also blame himself. Seven weeks to the election and the race is a dead heat. Enjoy.

  1. Sam,

I appreciate your appeal to reduce the name calling and insults. But when has that never been a factor in politics? And who are most egregious offenders?

I have to wonder which Democrat said, "Trump is Hitler and has to be killed."

Let’s look at the other side for a few examples.

Elon Musk tweeted, "Kamala Harris vows to be a communist dictator on day one", with an AI image of her with red uniform and a hammer and sickle hat.

As someone who was hatefully and without supporting evidence called a communist, I must note these words by Trump and his VP pick.

"She is a communist, I guess," Trump said in an Aug. 26 podcast with host Shawn Ryan, a former Navy SEAL who has praised Trump.

Soon he quickly dropped the “I guess” part.

"She's A Marxist, Communist, Fascist, Socialist."

"I look at action, I don’t look at words," Trump said. "She is really a Marxist. Her father is a Marxist professor. … This country is not ready for a Marxist or a communist."

In La Crosse, Wisconsin, he said, "She is in fact a Marxist-slash-communist." In Michigan, he said Harris "is a Marxist, just like her father" and also called her a "fascist."

(Harris’s parents divorced when she was seven. She must have learned Marxism at a very precocious and young age. Her mother had custody.)

    J. D. Vance said, “I go back and forth between thinking Trump is a cynical asshole like Nixon who wouldn't be that bad (and might even prove useful) or that he's America's Hitler.” Is it only bad when Democrats compare Trump to Hitler of the 1930’s?

Vance on the assassination attempt against Trump:

“Today is not just some isolated incident. The central premise of the Biden campaign is that President Donald Trump is an authoritarian fascist who must be stopped at all costs. That rhetoric led directly to President Trump’s attempted assassination.” — X, July 14 2024

    “Stopped”, NOT shot.

I’m going to quote the highly respected journalist Christianne Amanpour from her address to a Columbia School of Journalism commencement.

“Journalism is a public service, first and foremost. Journalism is about the truth, first and foremost. Be truthful, but not neutral. Both-siderism, (on the one hand, on the other hand,) is not always objectivity. It does not get you to the truth. Drawing false moral or factual equivalence is neither objective nor truthful. Objectivity is our golden rule. And it is in weighing all the sides and all the evidence. Hearing everyone, quoting everything, but not rushing to equate them when there is no equating. And look at the damage that has done.”

And lest we forget Trump’s appeal to a violent end for Hillary Clinton in 2016:

"If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people — maybe there is, I don’t know.”

Which party actually sounds like fascists? Which side scapegoats minorities, blames and insults Jews for not supporting them, and regurgitates actual neo-Nazi lies about Haitians in Springfield OH?

    1. As usual Dave you go way over the top. Since when do we believe what any politician says? Is Trump a Hitler? Is Kamala a communist? Trump says she is. She never called Trump a Hitler. I don't believe either of those statements but reading your blog you are willing to believe Trump is a Nazi. Calm down Dave. Not everything is written in black and white. Don't be so brainwashed by what anyone says, if they said it. Since when is Christianne Amanpour the last word on anything? You let all this stuff carry you away on righteous rightness without examining your own motives, or the motives of the politicians. Ease off, don't drive yourself crazy.

    2. OK, Sam. I get it. I was over the top, but thank you for putting up with it.

And I don't believe Trump is a Nazi in the sense or degree of Hitler, although he plainly admires dictators. And his neo-Nazi rhetoric is undeniable. His recent vicious lies about LEGAL Haitian immigrants were originated by the neo-Nazi group Blood Tribe. And announcing at his rally, “The fact is, and I’ll say it now, you have to get them the hell out”, as the crowd chanted, "Send them back" rings very neo-Nazi. The same applies to his recently blaming Jews if he loses the election.

Perhaps I ramble on with too much information, real quotes, and the judgment of a very respected journalist. “A British journalist twice awarded with the Peabody Prize, Christiane Amanpour is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a member of the board of directors of the Committee to Protect Journalists, the Center for Public Integrity, the International Women's Media Foundation, and the Institute for War and Peace Reporting. Since April 2015 she has served as a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Freedom of Expression and journalist safety”. (Wiki, but verifiable)

And you're correct. She never had the last word on anything. No journalist does. In fact, nobody does. I was just sharing what I thought were wise words for journalists.

You ask a reasonable question with, "But Is the right saying vile things about the left as the left is saying about the right?"

And I agree. Yes. There's a lot of anger out there. And there are a lot of lies; consequential lies that have resulted in violence and an attack on our Capitol.

I confess I’m stumped by your conclusion, "Yes, but they don't equal what the left is saying about the right."

As one falsely accused of being an "anti-capitalism, anti-faith, and anti-family communist", I find it difficult to understand how you have made this determination

Anyway, you don't owe me any answers and I don't want to argue, so I understand if you'd prefer I leave the discussion. As you know, I've been banned by the very guy who called me a commie, so I don't want you to feel you need to ban me as well. Just say the word, and I'll ride off into the sunset.

Thanks for tolerating me this much, and I'll try not to drive myself TOO crazy. :-)

    3. ALL politicians lie. So why you believe either side is beyond me.
I have seen the swastika on your blog many times and the inference that Republicans are Nazis. I have heard Trump calling his opposition communists. Word salad! Sticks and stones.............Childishness! I don't want to argue either. You have every right to hold the opinions you do. I hope no one is attacking you for those opinions.

  3. Yes, Sam, we can't expect politicians to be honest and believe without question. We need to fact check and verify their statements. I don't know if anyone can be honest all the time.

BUT, Trump's lies are clearly racist, dangerous and with violent consequences. This is what I call neo-Nazi level lies and hate rhetoric. You can see that where I attach a swastika to Trump's neo-Nazi hate speech and lies. January 6 was his version of Hitler's Beer Hall Putsch. He earned that swastika on that day alone.

The Springfield racist lies are DIRECTLY from a neo-Nazi group. Trump and Vance are LITERALLY parroting neo-Nazi LIES. This is not just my opinion. It is reality. Damn right I will call it out for what it is. You should too. Blaming Jews for losing an election and racist neo-Nazi rhetoric is not mere word salad. REAL consequences ensue.

I'm afraid you are falling into a false equivalence between the Party of Trump and Democrats. I hope that comforts you.
